Educator Professional Development and School-based Parent Support

In response to regular needs assessments conducted with Price Hill schools, tech-reach organizes and presents educator professional development training on best practices in educating students with histories of trauma or with toxic stress from living in generational poverty.

School-based Parent Support is provided for parents seeking to improve their children's prospects for school success. Economic and housing stability, family routines, language development and reading support, parent-teacher relations, and developmentally appropriate behaviors.

Community Events and the VITA Tax Program

Tech-reach brings Price Hill residents and other stakeholders together at Elder's Schaeper Center in support of health, safety, economic self-sufficiency, responsive community institutions, and civic pride. As an example, the West Side VITA Tax Program, held every February and March since 2006 at the Schaeper Center, brings together volunteers from the Sisters of Charity and Mt. St. Joseph University, Legal Aid Society, local banks, accounting firms, colleges, and other area non-profits. Every year, between 250 and 400 low-income filers receive free federal and state tax preparation and e-filing, which has returned over $6 million to the local economy.
