The mission of tech-reach is: “to improve quality of life for the people of Price Hill and surrounding communities through improved access to technology education and technology-enhanced learning opportunities.”

Classes are held in the Schaeper Center, Elder High School's state-of-the-art-technology center.

Our History

The idea for a technology outreach (tech-reach) program stemmed from the Vision 2020 capital and endowment campaign, which is responsible for the creation of the Schaeper Center.  The tech-reach outreach program was created to utilize these new facilities for the good of the community, helping to fulfill the school's vision of community leadership.  When construction was complete on the Schaeper Center in the summer of 2003, Mr. Jerry Hamburg introduced the first tech-reach classes  with a summer camp for local elementary school students.

Sponsored by Elder, tech-reach is an independently funded organization housed in Elder's Schaeper Center. Grant money provides special programming and operating expenses, as well as scholarships which our students depend upon for their enrollment.  Each year, tech-reach offers a schedule of adult computer classes in addition to children's classes, customized staff training classes, and other special programming.

Since 2003, Elder's tech-reach program has created innovative programming to bring technology into the lives of adults and children in engaging and fulfilling ways.  Teacher trainings and staff development programs for local non-profit organizations have helped build capacity in the community for technology-enhanced education and social services.  Free computer-assisted tax preparation and e-filings have been part of the tech-reach community service programming since 2006.  Working collaboratively with other non-profit service organizations, tech-reach has linked the community to the resources necessary to advance economically, academically, and socially.  Since the first tech-reach class, over 4800 students have benefited from over 322 classes.
